Rode Knytes Scroll #3 Toew Truck TV

KNYTES SCROLL HEDDERhhrpt

Before I get into my rant here, I want to apologize for Maximum Overdrive Dixie Diesel Radio not being on air overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. Two Primary coils and 2 high power Tubes that make our on air system work took a dump, added to that our central data center in Twin Falls went sour, but repairs are being made so I’m kicking back and writing instead of yapping on air.

Okay then, I can remember when I approached a leading TV network in 2002 of doing a series on TV for those of in the towing business. His response? It’ll never sell. Two years prior, I went to a Hollywierd friend of mine to pitch the idea of doing a TV drama series, based in part on the concept of the old Emergency produced and created by Jack Webb of Dragnet and Adam 12 fame, on the idea of doing a drama about those who tow. Same response, it’ll never sell. The first time I saw Wrecked on SpeedTV the network that Fox Sports or FS1 occupies now, I thought, wasn’t this the kind of thing we had in mind, wont sell huh? Then I saw several others one even produced by Jennifer Lopez called South Beach Tow that was not real, and now the Weather Channel a piece of NBCU called Highway Thru Hell. Not bad series of course, but damn it, I’d at least as far as the organization get some sort of a thank you, or at least a few kudos for originating the idea. Of course I’d name it after my company, Highway Hooker TV or something to the idea. But that being that we are right now looking for a few writers and a script writer to do up a pilot script, for such a thing. Make it episodic to compliment our organization and the radio gig. Likewise the industry. Get the big tow equipment manufacturers to sponsor the thing, and go from there. To my knowledge there isn’t anything on TV that really tells the story properly, but we try.

Alrighty then, while its not yet concrete, I am beginning to think about dropping anchor here in Evanston and go through the bullstuff of relicensing me , the company and my equipment. Reason? Over the last two weeks I have had requests 5 to be exact to go and extract and rescue some heavy haulers. One came direct from U-Haul, in Arizona, don’t anyone here have that contract. In short take a page out of old buddy Charlie of A1 out of Twin Falls and do what he did there here. Like I said I’m not yet mind made up , but I’m sure thinking about it.

Barbra Mandrell had a song out several years ago called I was Kountry before Kountry was cool. To paraphrase, We were pro towing media before towing radio and TV was cool. Hey its been done with trucking on Ice Road Trucker, its been done with Harley road bikes on American Chopper making Occ a home name and so thought is, lets us do it our way, and see if we can make Towing TV real, and deliver all those driving around tow trucks and moving over for tow trucks working on the side of the road, mean something. Saw that TR Footnotes went out of business. Maybe its time for Highway Hooker PhooteNotes, the magazine?

See ya’ll on the road, I’m headed for bed.
